Be a Voice for Idaho's Children (Because They Don't All Have One!)
Idaho Women: Are you familiar with Idaho Voices for Children? It is the only non-partisan nonprofit devoted to protecting and enhancing the lives of Idaho’s most precious asset – our next generation. The goal of Idaho Voices for Children is to create an environment where all of Idaho’s children have the opportunity to achieve their full potential, not just the privileged children.
What is IVC doing to help Idaho’s children? The current focus is on the following three imperative initiatives:
· Establishing a Child Mortality Review Panel in Idaho (We are the only state lacking an infant and child mortality review board!)
· Reducing the rate of childhood obesity
· Increasing the number of Idaho 4th graders reading at grade level
Personally, I find these to be necessary, and measurable, projects that I support. I hope you will too!
I have attached a copy of IVC’s Pledge to Idaho Children. Please take a minute to read it. If you are called Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt or Friend, I think you will find the pledge compelling. If so, please visit www.idahovoices.org to electronically “sign” the pledge in support of Idaho’s children. This may be your first step to helping establish public policy in Idaho! I also bring your attention to a PowerPoint on their website – Idaho Legislature 101. It is a simple, yet accurate presentation on policy-making in Idaho. Thanks for helping support an organization whose sole mission is supporting our children and grandchildren!
